Concert on Saturday 14 October 2017 7.30 pm Brentwood Ursuline Convent High School Queen's Road Brentwood Essex CM14 4EX Mozart and Mahler, both outsiders who made their careers in Vienna, both challenging the expectations of the Vienna of their time, both sadly short-lived but who left large legacies of beautiful music for us. We are delighted to welcome two soloists who are no strangers to Brentwood: Lydia Caines who is the soloist in Mozart's youthful concerto, written in Salzburg before his move to Vienna, and Chloë Treharne, who is the soloist in the final movement of Mahler's gentle and intensely lyrical fourth symphony, with its depiction of a child's view of heaven. The concert starts with one of Mozart's most popular Viennese compositions, the playful overture to his opera the Marriage of Figaro.
