Mozart was the composer whom Tchaikovsky revered. We start with the overture to Mozart's opera Cosi fan Tutte before playing his joyful Symphony No 29. For the second half we turn to Tchaikovsky and his final work, his sixth symphony - a work of extreme passions and contrasts. If you like Tchaikovsky, you will be pleased to know we have more Tchaikovsky in February when we perform his virtuoso and joyfully lyrical violin concerto.
